Beginning Sunday, November 15 through December 31, 2009, eligible Medicare recipients will be able to enroll or select a new Medicare Health and Prescription Drug Plan. Even if you think you are satisfied with your current provider, you should still compare the plans to ensure you are receiving the best deal possible. There are alot of variables when signing up that you have to think about. Not just how much the premium costs each month, but you need to take an assessment of what prescriptions are currently being taken, how much they cost and then translate that information or compare it to all the plans that are being offered. Just because the price is low, doesn't mean it's a good deal, and just because the price is high, doesn't mean it's a good deal either. Need more information, click here .
Things to remember: If you have both your Health and Prescription Drug Coverage with the same plan and you decide to switch the Drug Plan portion to another provider, your current health plan could disenroll you because of this decision which will return you back to Traditional Medicare. MAKE SURE you read your current health plan coverage Explanation of Benefits to make sure that if you change your coverage, you will not be disenrolled. Do not sign up with anyone selling door-to-door!!!! Most health plans do not sell in this manner. The Ohio Department of Insurance has about 60 cases they are investigating for persuading participants to switch to plans that are not suitable for them. If your financial situation has changed, repeat the process step-by-step to figure out if you may qualify as "low income." Not all plans offer "low income" prescription drug coverage" so make sure you do your homework.
If you or someone you know needs assistance with interpreting these guidelines and comparing the plans to see which one fits your needs, we can provide this service to you in your home for a fee $35.00. For more specific information on the Medicare Part D Program, click here. |
